HIP regulations the low down!

THE draft regulations for Home Information Packs have been revealed by the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister.

They are the result of months of discussions with key stakeholders in the development of the Packs, such as the National Association of Estate Agents, the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, the Law Society and the Council of Mortgage Lenders, following the passing of the Housing Act.

There will be a consultation period up to December 30, after which it is intended for the final regulations to be issued. Your opinion on the draft regulations are welcomed during the consultation period, with details of who to contact at the ODPM available via their website (see below). HIPs are set to be mandatory from 1 June 2007, with a preliminary trials taking place some six months in advance. Click on the link below for the full draft regulations.
